Getting to the market
Salamanca Market and the entire waterfront area is a hive of activity on a Saturday. There is a road closure in place on Saturdays and Salamanca Place, between Montpelier Retreat and the Silo's, is closed to vehicles from 5.00 am to 5.30 pm.
Finding a place to stay
Salamanca Market is located on the Hobart waterfront and is a convenient walking distance from a large range of hotels.
The Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre can help you work out the best places for you to stay so you can be centrally located and within walking distance of the market on Saturday. They can also help you book other experiences around Tasmania and assist with local information to help make your stay enjoyable.
Cycle
The city is connected via the intercity cycleway and the market has three convenient bike racks. This scenic route allows bikes, joggers and dog walkers to follow the river and nature areas, all the way from Claremont to the Hobart waterfront and the market. Although over 15 km in distance, it is possible to cycle easily between Mona, the Royal Hobart Botanical Gardens and the Salamanca Market.
Bus
The city bus mall is located at 22 Elizabeth Street and is only a short seven minute walk to the market.
Motor Homes
Parking a motor home in the city can be tricky. We often recommend that people park at the Evans Street car park, and walk along the waterfront to the market. The walk is on a flat surface and takes about 7 minutes.
Uber
Uber now services a wide area of Southern Tasmania and there are plenty to be found around the city.
Taxi
A number of taxi companies are available for Hobart and surrounds.
Car parks
Visitors are also encouraged to use the multiple car parks within the Hobart city centre. A map of Hobart's car parks can be found here.
