Enjoy a day at the market and the sounds of traditional highland pipe band on the Salamanca Lawns.
The City of Hobart Highland PIpe Band have performed at the Salamanca Market for many years and are a firm favourite with local and interstate audiences.
Established in 1946, the Band is one of the longest active pipe bands in Tasmania. The Band is active in community-based events throughout the year including ANZAC Day marches, Hobart Christmas pageant, and monthly performances at Salamanca Markets. The band offers a free structured tuition program for pipes and drums, and welcome new members. The Band is lead by Pipe Major, Garry Fletcher and Drum Major, Stewart Ims, and wears a modern Brodie tartan.
